المملكة: Watch Voluntary campaigns to grow mangrouf in 5 coastal cities

The National Center for the Development of Plant Cover and Combating Desertification launched volunteer campaigns in five coastal cities in the Kingdom to grow mangroves, in conjunction with the activation of the International Wetland Day.
The center organized in the community partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and some institutions interested in the environment, voluntary opportunities for the cultivation of mangroves in some regions of the Kingdom.
Dr. Saleh Al -Zamanan, Director of the Manharajov Forestry Department at the National Center for the Development of Vegetable Cover and Control of Desertification, explained that these campaigns, which included the regions of Jizan, Asir, Makkah Al -Mukarramah, Medina and the Eastern Region, witnessed wide participation from various governmental and private sectors, in addition to non -profit associations, volunteers and citizens .
He pointed out that the mangrove forests are an essential part of wetland, which also include coral reefs, oases, dams and lakes.

Enhancing fish wealth

He stressed the maximum importance of mangrove forests, because of the great benefits it provides at the environmental, economic and social levels. In terms of environmental level, these forests contribute to facing climate changes and alleviating carbon emissions, in addition to providing oxygen, as for the economic level, it enhances fish wealth and the availability of An incubator environment for various marine biology.
The Al -Zamanan emphasized the unique environmental diversity of the Kingdom, which is manifested in the picturesque nature of the islands that embrace the mangrove trees.
He called on everyone to contribute to protecting these important environments, by participating in the voluntary campaigns launched by the center through its official platforms.
