About half a million books at the Al -Warraqin Festival

Sharjah, February 5/ WAM/ The activities of the ninth session of the Al -Warraqin Festival for the Book, which is organized by the Sharjah Human Services City in the Palm Park in Sharjah, will be launched today, and will continue until February 9th under the slogan “When the books live … the future tales are lined”, which witnesses participation Wide of public benefit societies, educational institutions, diplomatic missions, as well as members of society.

During the event, 450,000 valuable books are presented, where visitors continue to arrive from the early morning hours, in search of various titles in literature, art, history, and more, at symbolic prices.

Engineer Fathi Jabr Afana, CEO of Fast Construction Contracting Company, expressed his pride in continuous cooperation with the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, noting that this cooperation extends since the first session of the festival, where his company provided logistical support in preparing tables and the festival’s land, praising the dedication of volunteers, stressing that The festival contributes to promoting culture and volunteerism in society.

For its part, His Excellency Mona Abdel Karim Al -Yafi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, called on the community to visit the festival, stressing that his goal is not limited to collecting donations for persons with disabilities, but also to enhance cultural and social awareness, pointing out that the festival contributes to reducing the use of Paper, thus preserving the environment.

The ninth session witnessed the participation of 200 volunteers of various groups, including 105 volunteers from the Sharjah Voluntary Work Center and 95 city employees and persons with disabilities.

Al -Yafii thanked all the participants and supporters, including the Sharjah Municipality, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, and Fast Construction Contracting Company.

The festival includes many artistic and cultural events.

Al -Yafii pointed out that the festival enhances sustainability by facilitating the arrival of used books to the public, and provides direct support for people with disabilities by donating books or buying them, and the city was also keen to create the festival’s place to be suitable for all visitors, including persons with disabilities and the elderly.
