Sumatra needs $3.11 billion for reconstruction

A senior Indonesian government official said that the island of Sumatra will need $3.11 billion for reconstruction and recovery, following a series of floods that resulted in casualties.
The head of the agency responsible for reducing the consequences of disasters in Indonesia, Suharyanto, added that the amounts required to finance recovery in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra may continue to increase as the agency continues to assess the extent of the damage that occurred there. He explained in a cabinet meeting, held in Aceh, that Aceh province needs the largest share of funding among the three affected provinces.
