No need for a government bailout for low-cost airlines

US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said that he does not believe that the US government currently needs to provide financial support or rescue to other low-cost airlines, following the collapse of Spirit Aviation.
Duffy said during a press conference, today, Saturday, at Newark Liberty International Airport: “At this stage, I do not see this as a necessary issue. They already have access to cash,” according to Bloomberg News Agency.
Duffy’s statements came hours after Spirit ceased operations, leaving passengers and employees stranded in various parts of the United States.
Earlier today, Duffy announced measures to support affected passengers, noting that several airlines, including United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, and JetBlue, have agreed to cap prices or reduce tickets for those affected by the company’s cessation.
