Shakira performs the biggest concert of her career on Copacabana Beach, Brazil

On Saturday, Latin pop star Shakira performed a huge free concert on the famous Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, the largest in the Colombian singer’s career, in the presence of about two million people.

Fans flocked in large numbers to attend the free concert that the 49-year-old star gave on a huge stage outside the famous Copacabana Palace hotel.

Before the start of the concert, which was delayed by more than an hour from the scheduled time, marchers flew in the air, forming the image of a she-wolf, Shakira’s artistic nickname, amid an enthusiastic atmosphere among those attending.

The municipality of Rio de Janeiro indicated that about two million people attended Shakira’s concert on the Brazilian beach, which hosted the most famous pop stars in recent years, as Madonna performed a concert in front of 1.6 million people in 2024, and Lady Gaga sang her most famous songs in front of 2.1 million fans last year.

“Shakira does not need to adhere to stereotypes. She creates real art, and does what she wants out of love. I admire her very much. She is a Latin woman at the top,” 26-year-old designer Joao Pedro Yelin told AFP, wearing a coat made of scraps of fabric representing the flags of Latin American countries.
