The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council condemns the targeting of an Emirati tanker during its passage through the Strait of Hormuz
RIYADH, 4th May / WAM / His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, condemned, in the strongest terms of condemnation and denunciation, the attacks that targeted an Emirati tanker belonging to the company “ADNOC” as it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Secretary-General stressed in a statement that the continued Iranian attacks, by targeting ships crossing the strait, constitute piracy and dangerous blackmail of the security of sea lanes and straits, and represent a flagrant violation of the relevant Security Council resolutions, most notably Resolution No. 2817.
He affirmed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s full solidarity with the UAE and its support in all the measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty, security and stability.
