Al-Nasr defeats Al-Dhaid and is crowned champion of the National Handball Cup
Dubai, May 4 / WAM / Al-Nasr Club was crowned champion of the second edition of the National Handball Cup for the 2025-2026 sports season, after its victory today over Al Dhaid Club with a score of 35-29 during the final match of the tournament, which was held in the Al Wasl Club Hall in Dubai.
With this coronation, Al-Nasr Club will participate in the upcoming Gulf Club Championship.
This tournament is the first for the Al-Nasr Club handball team in 11 years, as its last crown was the title of His Highness the President’s Cup in the 2014-2015 season.
The winning team was crowned by His Excellency Eng. Saud Ibrahim Saleh, President of the Emirates Handball Federation, His Excellency Muhammad Obaid Al-Hussan, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, His Excellency Abdul Razzaq Al-Sayyid Muhammad Al-Hashemi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nasr Sports Company, and members of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Handball Federation and Al-Nasr Club.
The final match was officiated for the first time by a female refereeing team from the State of Kuwait, the international referees His Excellency Al-Enezi and Widad Al-Naseem, nominated by the Asian Handball Confederation.
His Excellency Engineer Saud Ibrahim Saleh congratulated the players of Al-Nasr Club and the team’s management for winning the championship title, as well as Al-Dhaid Club, which is participating for the first time in the men’s competitions, by winning second place.
He added: In the coming season, we look forward to the participation of more teams from different age groups in all the federation’s championships, pointing out that there is a strategy for developing the federation during the next three years, which is reviewed every period, and it is moving in the right direction, which will be reflected in the national team during the coming period.
For his part, His Excellency Abdul Razzaq Al-Sayed Al-Hashemi expressed his happiness at crowning Al-Nasr Club with the National Cup title, stressing that the coronation is the result of continuous work from the team’s management throughout the season, and a desire to return to victories again, offering his congratulations to the leaders of Al-Nasr Club on this achievement.
He added: “We hope that the achievement will be an incentive for more championships in the coming seasons, and a new starting point for the handball team, after a strong season that the team played, during which it presented wonderful technical levels.”
For his part, Rashid Shurayh, coach of the handball team at Al-Nasr Club, expressed his happiness at the team’s victory in the National Cup title, stressing that his team played a strong and difficult match, but was able to ultimately win the title after a strong performance by the players. He added: “We are waiting for more titles and championships next season, and all thanks to everyone who contributed to this achievement.”
