Aramco cooperates with “Solutions” to develop a supercomputer worth 1.4 billion riyals
Saudi Aramco announced its cooperation with… "Solutions" In enabling digital transformation in Saudi Arabia and the region, to develop a new generation of high-performance supercomputers, and this comes as part of Saudi Aramco’s ongoing efforts in the field of digital transformation.
The initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of Digital transformation, which contributes to pushing it to the forefront of global companies in terms of computing power in the energy field.
This supercomputer will serve as an important enabler for Saudi Aramco’s exploration and production work, and will enable advanced seismic data processing, reservoir modeling and simulation on a large scale.
7-fold increase in computing capacity
This advanced system is designed to process huge amounts of data with high speed and accuracy, and its computing capacity will be seven times greater than the available capacity. Currently for exploration and production work at Saudi Aramco.
By enhancing seismic imaging, reservoir simulation and modeling capabilities, the supercomputer aims to redefine the speed and accuracy of discovering and extracting hydrocarbons, and contributes to increasing extraction rates from fields in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and extending their lives.

The Executive Vice President of the Business Sector for Exploration, Petroleum Engineering and Drilling at Saudi Aramco, Abdul Hamid Al-Deghaither, said: "Saudi Aramco’s digital evolution is redefining the boundaries of possibilities in hydrocarbon exploration and reservoir management"
He added: "Through this advanced supercomputer, which is being built through our strategic cooperation with Solutions by stc, we seek to set a new standard in computing excellence."
He continued: "This achievement underscores our focus on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance performance by discovering new reserves, improving recovery rates, and identifying new ways to create value."
Improving production work
The CEO of Solutions by STC, Engineer Omar Al-Nomani, said: "This cooperation represents a strategic step towards empowering the energy sector by taking advantage of the latest high-performance computing capabilities, supporting the acceleration of seismic data processing and improving the efficiency of exploration and production work."

The project, which costs 1.4 billion riyals ($372.5 million), includes the use of a specially designed supercomputer to support both seismic data interpretation and reservoir modeling activities.
By taking advantage of advanced technologies from leading global companies in the field of high-performance computing, this project aims to provide Saudi Aramco with a competitive advantage in data-intensive exploration and production work.
Start of the project in early 2027
It is scheduled to begin The system will be delivered in early 2027, and it is expected to form the cornerstone of Saudi Aramco’s digital leadership in the global energy sector.
Solutions by stc will provide solutions that include implementing the development process, providing the system, software, and support.
