The High Commissioner for Human Rights calls on Israel to immediately release two members of the Global Resilience Fleet

UNHCR spokesman Thameen Al-Khaitan said in a statement on Wednesday that solidarity and trying to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza – who are in dire need of it – is not a crime.

He added that the disturbing reports of severe mistreatment of Abu Kishk and de Avila must be investigated, and those responsible must be brought to justice.

He called for an end to Israel’s use of arbitrary detention and terrorism laws that are vague and broadly defined and contradict international human rights law.

He said that Israel must also end its siege on Gaza, and allow and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian Strip in sufficient quantities.
