The Publishers Association General Assembly discusses the priorities for the next stage

Sharjah, May 6 / WAM / Yesterday, the Emirates Publishers Association held, at its headquarters, its regular general meeting for the year 2026 in the presence of its members and its Board of Directors, as well as officials from the Ministry of Community Empowerment.

The members of the association extended their thanks and gratitude to Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the founder and honorary president of the association, for her continued support of the publishing industry and publishers in the UAE and her effective efforts in empowering the sector and enhancing its presence locally and globally.

The General Assembly approved the minutes of the previous meeting, and reviewed and approved the Board of Directors’ report on the association’s activities for the year ending 2025 and the initiatives and programs it included that contributed to empowering publishers and enhancing their presence at the local and international levels.

The attendees discussed and approved the activity programs, the events schedule, and the proposed action plan for the year 2026, which focuses on developing the services provided to publishers, expanding the scope of professional initiatives, and enhancing the association’s role in empowering the publishing industry and building its future at the state and regional levels.

The meeting also witnessed the approval of the proposed budget for the new year 2026, in addition to the approval of the final accounts for the fiscal year ending 2025, which reflects the association’s commitment to working in accordance with clear financial and regulatory frameworks.

The Ministry of Community Empowerment announced the victory of Sultan Saif Al Mazrouei, founder of Al Saif Publishing House, as a new member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Publishers Association, following the end of the voting process that took place during the General Assembly.

The members of the association and the Board of Directors discussed a number of proposals submitted by the members, including a project to develop a reliable platform that provides comprehensive data and insights that serve readers, authors, publishing houses, cultural and educational bodies, as well as decision makers and investors in the sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Emirates Publishers Association confirmed that its plan for 2026 embodies the UAE’s vision of leadership, innovation, and building a sustainable knowledge economy, by launching qualitative initiatives that enhance the competitiveness of the publishing industry, support digital transformation, and expand the presence of the Emirati publisher in regional and international markets, thus consolidating the country’s position as a global center of excellence in publishing.
