المملكة: At a cost of 553 million riyals.. inauguration of 10 vital roads in Mecca


His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prince of Transportationand Logistics Services Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Roads, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and a number of Excellencies from the leaders of the transportation and logistics system.

The inaugurated projects included the road linking Al-Sail Al-Kabeer to the Riyadh Road, with a length of 21 km and a cost of 138 million riyals, and the duplication of the Hudhn-Turba road, with a length of 56 km and a cost of 87 million riyals, in addition to the duplication of the Bisha-Raniya road. Al-Khurmah to the Riyadh-Taif highway, with a length of 22 km and a cost of 79 million riyals, and the duplication of the Al-Makhwah-Al-Majaridah road with a length of 9 km and a cost of 75 million riyals, in addition to treating damaged sites on the roads of the Holy Sites, and treating damaged sites on the roads of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Taif, Al-Baha, and the Taif ring road.

Enhancing mobility

These projects come as an extension of the support given by the wise leadership. – May God bless it – for the transport and logistics services sector, which contributes to enhancing movement in the region and serving those visiting the Grand Mosque, as it was implemented according to the highest standards of safety and quality, and in accordance with the Saudi road code, in support of the road network in the region whose length exceeds 8,623 km.

On a related level, during the meeting, His Highness launched a campaign "Distinctive, safe methods" of the region, with the aim of conducting a comprehensive survey and evaluation of road networks outside the urban area, by monitoring observations and processing them with the participation of government agencies and society.

His Highness listened to an explanation of the campaign that targets road networks exceeding 8,600 km in length, and is being implemented using the largest global survey and evaluation fleet supported by artificial intelligence techniques, drones, and geographical information systems (GIS), which contributes to raising the efficiency of roads and enhancing levels of safety and quality of infrastructure.

It contributed In its previous versions, the campaign monitored and processed more than 100,000 observations in various regions of the Kingdom. The projects and initiatives associated with it also contributed to reducing traffic accident deaths by about 60%, and advanced the Kingdom to fourth place among the G20 countries in the road quality index.
