American police arrest a suspect in a mass shooting that left 22 injured

American police announced the arrest of an 18-year-old man on Wednesday, in connection with a mass shooting that occurred during a night party near a lake in Oklahoma, which resulted in the death of a woman and the wounding of 22 others.

Edmond City Police reported that the accused, named as Gilan A. Davis, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, following the shooting incident that occurred on Sunday evening in Arcadia Lake, located in the northern suburb of Oklahoma City, after a fight broke out among a large crowd of attendees.

Edmond Police Chief J.D. Younger said during a press conference that the charge against Davis is currently being upgraded to premeditated murder, after an 18-year-old woman died from her injuries. Police identified the victim as Avianna Smith-Gray.

Police believe that the incident began with an argument between two women who attended the party, before it developed into a clash between members of rival gangs. The police chief also indicated that there is at least one other suspect who is still under investigation.
