Providing 25 visiting sites in Mecca to enrich the cultural experience of the pilgrims


The Royal Commission reviewed the city of and and Umm Al-Qura University plans to develop services and document historical sites, to raise the efficiency of and Umrah, during a joint scientific meeting held recently.

These achievements were reviewed within a meeting organized by the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Chair for Studies on the History of Mecca at Umm Al-Qura University, to discuss the development of services provided to the guests of God. The dialogue was moderated by the professor of the chair, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sharif. The Guests of God represent a solid historical extension that is renewed through an integrated system of planning, development and operation.

Al-Rasheed explained that the Authority is constantly working to harmonize efforts and coordinate work, in a way that keeps pace with the specificity of the place, the intensity of movement, the multiplicity of destinations, and the coincidence of major seasons in the Holy Capital.

Developing Historical Sites

He revealed the Authority’s efforts in developing historical and archaeological sites, by documenting 48 historical and archaeological sites, And 25 of them were made available for direct visitation.

He indicated that these available sites succeeded in receiving more than 10 million visitors, recording a general and documented satisfaction rate of 94%.

With regard to the holy sites, the CEO pointed out that the preparations for the Hajj season 1447 AH represent an integrated extension of the achievements achieved during the Hajj season 1446 AH.

He pointed out that the operational plans aim to increase the vegetation area to about 60 thousand trees, and expand the area of rest houses to exceed 36 thousand square metres, in conjunction with raising the capacity of health facilities to 400 beds.

The President of Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Muadi Al Madhab, stressed the university’s endeavor to harness its full scientific, research and advisory capabilities in supporting the Hajj and Umrah system.

Al Madhab added that This academic approach ensures effective integration between all parties, improves the efficiency of services provided to the residents of Mecca, and develops the comprehensive experience for the guests of God.
