Juma Al Majid Center showcases the arts of manuscript restoration on “Emirati Writer’s Day”

Dubai, May 25 / WAM / The Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage participated in the activities organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Library on the occasion of “Emirati Writer’s Day”, with the participation of an elite group of Emirati writers, writers, researchers and creators, and in cooperation with a number of cultural and national institutions, within the framework of supporting the Emirati writer and enhancing his role in enriching the cultural and knowledge scene in the country.

The Center’s participation came through an exhibition specialized in the restoration of manuscripts, during which it displayed examples of original manuscript papers that had been damaged as a result of inappropriate preservation methods, in addition to displaying the tools and materials used in the restoration of books, documents and manuscripts according to specialized scientific methods.

The Center’s pavilion witnessed a large number of visitors and those interested in documentary heritage, as they learned about the stages of manuscript restoration and the mechanisms for maintaining and preserving them, in addition to learning about the Center’s efforts in preserving the written human heritage and preserving historical and cognitive sources.

The Center affirmed its keenness to participate in cultural and knowledge events locally and internationally, based on its mission aimed at spreading knowledge and enhancing awareness of the importance of preserving the manuscript heritage and historical documents, which contributes to serving researchers and scholars, protecting the cultural heritage for future generations, and consolidating Dubai’s position as a center for culture and knowledge and preserving human heritage.
