Dallas, June 15 / WAM / A positive 2-2 draw decided the confrontation between Japan and the Netherlands, which was held today at Dallas Stadium in the first round of Group Six of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, before Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring for the Dutch team in the 50th minute, then Kaito Nakamura equalized for Japan in the 57th minute.

Crescencio Somerville restored the lead for the Netherlands by scoring the second goal in the 64th minute, but Daichi Kamada snatched the equalizer for Japan in the 88th minute.

With this result, both teams earned one point at the start of their journey in Group Six, which also includes Sweden and Tunisia.
