Roads and Transport Authority: Union Era Day embodies the vision of leadership that laid the foundations for a renaissance
DUBAI, 18th July, 2017 (WAM) – His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, confirmed that the era of the Union represents a pivotal national milestone in the history of the UAE, in which we recall with pride the historic meeting held on the 18th of July 1971, when the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and his brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, signed the “Union Document” and the Emirates Constitution, in a historic decision that embodied the vision of Exceptional, based on unity of class and destiny, and the belief that the union is the basic foundation for building a strong, stable state capable of anticipating the future.
Al Tayer said: The Union has proven, over more than five decades, that it is an integrated national example in governance, administration and development. It has consolidated the state’s institutions, strengthened its unity and cohesion, and laid the foundations for a comprehensive renaissance that has made the UAE a global example of stability, prosperity and the ability to transform ambitions into tangible achievements. He pointed out that the challenges and rapid transformations have confirmed the strength of the Union, the solidity of its institutions, the efficiency of its government system, and its ability to deal with various variables with flexibility and ability. Based on the vision of the wise leadership that continued to build on the immortal legacy of the Founding Fathers, and developed a development example based on anticipating the future, empowering people, promoting innovation, and consolidating the country’s competitiveness and global leadership.
He added that the prestigious position enjoyed by the UAE, at the regional and international levels, and the qualitative achievements it has achieved in various sectors, are the result of the strategic vision of the wise leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and his brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” which continued to build on the immortal legacy of the Founding Fathers, by establishing a government work system that Foreseeing the future, strategic planning, speed of achievement, and institutional integration, which enhanced the state’s readiness to face changes, and consolidated its position among the most competitive and pioneering countries in the world.
Mattar Al Tayer said: We renew our pledge to continue working sincerely to translate the visions of our wise leadership into qualitative achievements that enhance the quality of life, preserve the nation’s gains, and support the process of sustainable development, so that the Union remains, as the founding fathers wanted it, the foundation of a nation that continues to create the future with confidence, and presents to the world an inspiring example of unity, stability, and prosperity.
