The United Nations launches a global campaign to renew commitment to protecting refugees

The United Nations for Refugees is a global campaign entitled "The promise"on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the 1951 Convention establishing Guterres said that the right to seek asylum is under increasing pressure, in light of the escalation of conflicts and the rise in the number of displaced people, stressing that the Refugee Convention established the principle of non-refoulement and contributed to the protection of millions of people.
The campaign comes at a time when the number of refugees in the world exceeds 41 million people, and aims to build a broad international coalition to support refugees and host countries and communities, in preparation for the convening of the Global Refugee Forum in 2027.
