The conclusion of the sixteenth scientific conference of the Saudi Society for General Surgery

Yesterday, the sixteenth scientific conference of the Saudi Society for General Surgery in Riyadh, and today included two sessions, including injuries and accidents, chest surgery, liver, pancreas, pediatric surgery and gland surgery. The ten best scientific papers were shown out of fifty sharing papers. After the discussions, the scientific competition was launched in its second edition, with a jury from the American College of Surgeons, such as Dr. Wissam Abu Zanada, the Saudi Authority for Health Specialties, such as Dr. Saeed Al -Ghamdi, and the Saudi Society for Surgery, such as Professor Murad Al -Jafri. The competition witnessed competition between five sectors in the Kingdom, and won the title of the fourth sector. After that, the second round was launched at the Gulf level, with the participation of four countries: Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and the Sultanate of Oman. The United Arab Emirates team won the first place and the cup, while the Kuwait State team came second.

The awards were delivered by Dr. Sameh Barian, President of the American College of Surgeons, the Saudi Sector, Dr. Saud Al -Rashidi, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Saudi Authority for Specializations, and Dr. Ashraf Maghrabi, President of the Association.

At the end of the conference, the importance of enhancing scientific and research cooperation was emphasized between doctors and the competent authorities, in a way that contributes to the development of the health sector and achieve the best results for patients. The participants also praised the organization of the event and its success in gathering experts and researchers from different countries, stressing the importance of continuing such events to support medical specialties and exchange experiences and knowledge. In conclusion, the winners of the competitions were honored and the participants were bid farewell, with a promise to organize a new copy of the conference next year, to enhance the Kingdom’s position in the medical field at the regional and international levels.
