High greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union economy

Brussels, May 15 / WAM / Gases of Gas Gas Secretaries in the Economy of the European Union in the fourth quarter of 2024 were estimated at 897 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-eq), an increase of 2.2 % compared to the same quarter of 2023 (878 million tons of carbon dioxide). This information comes from the quarterly estimated estimates of greenhouse gas emissions according to the economic activity published by the statistical office of European groups today. The quarterly estimates of global warming emissions complement the quarterly social and economic data, such as gross domestic product or employment. .

The economic sectors responsible for the largest increases between forty are families (+ 5.2 %), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (+ 4.6 %).

The decrease in greenhouse gas emissions for 6 countries in the European Union was recorded compared to the same quarter of 2023.

The largest declines in greenhouse gases in Estonia (-11.3 %), Finland (-6.1 %) and Sweden (-2.3 %) were estimated.

Among the six European Union countries, 2 also recorded a decrease in its gross domestic product (Latvia and Austria). It is estimated that the other four European Union countries (Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Luxembourg) reduced emissions with their gross domestic product.
