As part of the activities of the International Summit of Health Ministers, the Chairman of the Health Care Authority participated as a keynote speaker in a high-level session entitled “Investing in Health and Technology,” which reviewed the importance of investments in digital technology and healthcare in strengthening the global health system, with a focus on the use of artificial intelligence to improve the quality of healthcare and expand the scope of health coverage. p>

An elite group of leaders and experts participated in the session, including Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din Zidan, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Purchasing Authority, and Dr. Deborah M. Barasa, Minister of Health of Kenya, Dr. Lilian Kanaan, General Manager of Roche Diagnostic Solutions in Egypt and North Africa, Chintu Lingumba, Head of Client Coverage for Africa Regions at Standard Bank, Dr. Babatunde Omeola, Head of Human Development at the African Development Bank, while the session was moderated by Dr. Sameh. Al-Saharti, Senior Health Policy Advisor at the World Bank and Commissioner of the Lancet Global Commission on Human-Centered Healthcare to Achieve Health Coverage

 

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobki reviewed Egypt’s journey towards achieving comprehensive health coverage, pointing out what has been accomplished in reforming the Egyptian health system to achieve excellence in providing health services. He stressed the importance of strengthening the primary care system, as the first gateway for citizens to obtain health care services, and developing medical and therapeutic services according to the highest international quality standards, in addition to working with the latest clinical protocols, stressing the importance of documenting and disseminating the pioneering Egyptian experience in transforming the system.

 

The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority highlighted the pivotal role of digital transformation in providing health services, noting the importance of supporting spending in the field of digital health, with an emphasis on the importance of investments in Artificial intelligence and digital health systems in shaping future health systems.

 

The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority pointed to the road map to support the development of the digital infrastructure for health facilities, the digitization of medical services, and smart hospital technology. Emphasizing the need to support future strategies to enhance the use of… Artificial intelligence in the medical field and the adoption of modern healthcare technology, which supports and enhances the health sector in Egypt and the world, noting that the Healthcare Authority is in the process of opening the first virtual hospital in Africa and the largest in the Middle East that uses smart digital solutions and telemedicine in diagnosis and treatment.

 

The head of the Health Care Authority indicated that Egypt succeeded in achieving a noticeable reduction in health spending from the citizen’s pocket by 59%, a decrease of 3% compared to previous years. He also stressed the importance of focusing on procedures Which improves health outcomes It enhances the sustainability of health systems.
