The Healthcare Authority celebrates World Antimicrobial Risk Awareness Week

The Public Authority for Health Care participated in celebrating the World Antimicrobial Risk Awareness Week, in all its health facilities in the governorates that implement the comprehensive health insurance system, and this year’s slogan is “Protect yourself and others by using antibiotics wisely.”

 

This comes in line with international and local efforts to address the risks of antimicrobial resistance, as these events are held annually in cooperation with international organizations, including the World Health Organization. (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

The Authority said: Activities to celebrate World Antimicrobial Risk Awareness Week included in hospitals, family medicine centers and units affiliated with the Authority in the governorates of " Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Suez, holding awareness seminars and interactive workshops, in addition to distributing educational materials that highlight the dangers of resistance. Antimicrobials and the importance of reducing them, while specialized teams of clinical pharmacists and members of the antibiotic teams, in cooperation with community engagement officials, participated in providing awareness and health advice.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, President of the General Authority for Health Care and General Supervisor, explained On the comprehensive health insurance project, the celebration comes through many awareness events on the occasion of World Antimicrobial Risk Awareness Week, within the framework of the Authority’s commitment to enhancing health awareness and supporting the rational use of antibiotics, which contributes to achieving a sustainable health system. And in line with international and local efforts to confront the irrational use of antibiotics.

He continued: The events held at the Authority’s facilities in various comprehensive health insurance governorates aimed to spread awareness among members of society and medical teams about the importance of rationalizing the use of antibiotics, and included awareness-raising advice. The main ones that were highlighted were: “Do not use antibiotics without medical advice, adhere to the prescribed doses and complete the treatment period specified by the doctor, refrain from sharing antibiotics with people.” Others.

Dr. Al-Subki added that the Public Health Care Authority is continuously working to implement the best health practices through awareness-raising activities and community initiatives aimed at raising the awareness of citizens and medical personnel, in order to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and ensure a safe, healthy future for all members of society. , stressing the importance of intensifying efforts to confront the phenomenon of antimicrobial resistance, pointing out the importance of individuals and institutions joining forces to achieve a more efficient and sustainable health system, in a way that preserves the health of current and future generations.
