The Arab League launches the book “The Palestinian Novel… A Million Years of Civilized History”

The League of Arab States launched the book “The Palestinian Novel… A Million Years of Civilized History,” in the presence of Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, on behalf of Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, former Prime Minister of Palestine Muhammad Shtayyeh, and Ambassador Dr. Saeed. Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector, and senior officials of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

He said Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, said that the book is a tremendous encyclopedic work, and when the project and the idea were reviewed, we found it excellent and needed because writing history in a case like the Palestinian issue is a very important matter, especially at a time when it is active  The other party (the Israeli occupation) is writing history and imposing false elements and information.

Ambassador Hossam Zaki added that the importance of this book stems from it being a step that confronts the Israeli occupation’s plan that aims to change and falsify history, as the occupier pays a lot of money to change history. And rewording it incorrectly. He continued that we must have a complete, solid, and agreed-upon Palestinian narrative that is distributed to the world, pointing out that it is no longer feasible to simply market the idea that the Palestinians are the owners of the right and the land alone, but rather we need to reinforce that with historical and documented proof and evidence.

He pointed out that this book summarizes the idea of a solid and rich Palestinian novel that reviews the history of Palestine and its relationship with this land. He noted that there are many parties that have worked hard in this context and presented many narratives, but the existence of this book in the form in which it was drafted is tangible and clear evidence of the solidity of the Palestinian narrative with regard to the people’s connection to the land.

For his part, he said. Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh, former Prime Minister of Palestine, said that the book contains 1,000 pages, in which 40 Palestinian researchers participated, showing the Palestinian narrative to the world through proofs and evidence.

Shtayyeh explained.   The Arab League protected the history of the Arab countries…and we are facing various wars, such as the war over geography, money, and the novel, explaining that the Palestinians today live in an exceptional circumstance.

Shtayyeh described the book as a miracle in which researchers from all over Palestine participated, and that this The book will be presented in Cambridge, adding: “We have something to say about history and geography.”

In turn, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk said Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the League of Arab States: Israel, the occupying, apartheid, and genocidal power, has tried all kinds of crimes to eliminate the Palestinian people, kill them, besiege them, starve them, and displace them from their land. It has tried in vain to erase their Arab identity, and steal their property, narrative, and cultural heritage, but they have failed. Over the course of 80 years of its crimes in uprooting the Palestinian people, because its roots are deeply rooted in its land and environment, deeper, greater and greater. And longer than the legs of the Israeli occupation that stretched over Arab land.

Al-Aklouk added: “And here we are today, after eight decades of Israeli ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, and 431 days of the most heinous crimes of Israeli genocide, we launch from the League of Nations Arabic, and from Cairo, a brief book of only a thousand pages, narrating our stories extending in our land over thousands of years.” He pointed out that the comprehensive war waged by Israel against the Palestinian human being and people does not only aim to seize their land, natural resources, and material possessions, but also targets the collective memory of our people, and the destruction of everything that bears witness to their existence and connection to the land, including the Palestinian story and narration. Therefore, Israel launches Its war on historical buildings, archaeological sites, museums, mosques and historic churches, as well as cultural institutions such as centres, theatres, publishing houses, public libraries, universities, schools and artistic murals, and with it It assassinates scholars, poets, writers, and artists. He stated that Israel’s enemy is the book, the school, the university, and the Palestinian Museum, and these Israeli attempts to obliterate and hide the Palestinian identity did not begin a year or two ago, but during the Nakba, and specifically between the years 1947 and 1948, with the displacement of the Palestinian people, Zionist gangs stole 70,000 books and manuscripts in The city of Jerusalem alone, and I recommend watching the film The Great Theft of Books, which was made by the Jewish-Israeli-Dutch director Benny Brunner, based on What was written by the Israeli researcher Gish Amit. He went on to say: “Today we are in the presence of the Palestinian Research Center, affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization, which Israel targeted in 1982, during its invasion of Beirut, and tried to blow it up after stealing all its books, publications, and manuscripts, and killing eight martyrs among its researchers and workers, and then returned a submissive Israel.” All the books of the Palestinian Research Center were in a prisoner exchange deal in 1983. He pointed out that Israeli attempts are still continuing to forge or destroy Palestinian Arab antiquities. And hiding them from view, including stone and metal inscriptions, including the Islamic architectural style, the Palestinian embroidered dress, the Palestinian Dabkeh, and even types of Arab and Palestinian foods, because Israel is a foreign occupation alien to this land, with no unified culture and no unified urban pattern simply because it came. From multiple cultures from multiple countries, and each country has its own monuments, culture, and architecture, which, although similar in its humanity sometimes, is different in culture and heritage.

He highlighted that the country Palestine, with the support of sisterly Arab countries, registered a number of elements of the intangible cultural heritage of the Palestinian people on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage, including Palestinian embroidery, the practices, skills and customs associated with it, and the Palestinian story, in addition to Arab countries, including the State of Palestine, registering two other elements. , which is the date palm, and Arabic calligraphy. He said: “We are here today facing a cultural, historical, and civilizational struggle of a distinctive kind, which is the book on the history and antiquities of Palestine, which the Palestinian Research Center worked on completing, with the efforts of 40 specialized researchers, and we are launching it today to see the light at the first starting station in the House of Arabs, the League of Arab States.”

He stressed that the course of history, which the artificial Israel does not know, is a great force of nature, and cannot be dissipated by thousands of tons of American bombs, cannons, and planes, nor destroyed by evil plans. Colonialism and apartheid.

He pointed out that the Palestinian people, who came from history and were bound by Israel with shackles from the past decade and crimes they did not commit, are heading towards their future and freedom no matter how long time passes or how many generations pass, pointing out that this Palestinian Arab people, the owner of Land, narrative, heritage and culture will not be defeated by the enemies of humanity armed with brutality, racism, the hypocrisy of the world and its double standards.
