Imposing sanctions for the first time on Russia’s destabilizing activities abroad

The European Union announced on Monday that it imposed sanctions for the first time on individuals and organizations believed to be responsible for Russia’s attempts to interfere abroad.
He pointed out that these measures came in response to Russia’s evil actions and its lack of respect for the international order based on rules and international law.

He stated that those targeted by the sanctions undermine the basic values ​​of the European Union and member states, their security, stability, independence and unity.

The sanctions target list includes the Russian military intelligence unit, which is known for its involvement in foreign assassinations and carrying out destabilizing activities such as bombings and cyber attacks across Europe.

New sanctions procedures

The new measures also target several individuals who played an important role in a Russian intelligence operation against the German Federal Intelligence Service, through which secret information was passed to the Russian Federal Security Service.
Punitive measures also include an asset freeze in the European Union and a travel ban.
A few days ago, European Union countries agreed to impose a new round of sanctions on Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.

Sanctions on Russian oil

The sanctions targeted the Kremlin’s fleet of oil tankers, according to the Hungarian Presidency of the European Union on the “X” platform.
The latest round of punitive measures prevents about 50 new ships from shipping Russian oil and petroleum products from European Union ports and from using the services of European companies.
