The Ministers of Health and Education inspect an initiative "The eyes of our children, our future" At a school in Gharbia

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, today, Thursday, inspected the work of the “Our Children’s Eyes, Our Future” initiative, at Mustafa Abdel Rahman School in the village of Fisha Slim in Gharbia Governorate, as part of the Presidential Development Initiative. “A new beginning for building humanity,” and within the framework of his field tour to Gharbia Governorate to determine the medical service provided For citizens.

 

This came in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Issa, Deputy Governor of Gharbia, and a number of leaders from the Ministries of Health, Population, and Education.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Education inspected the medical committees for examination, followed the process of registering student data, listened to the follow-up procedures during the examination of the students, and made sure of the medical teams’ commitment to providing medical care at the highest level and the students’ responsiveness. During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the results of the first and second phases of the initiative, and called for the necessity of replicating this model at the governorate level, directing the provision of All means of support from the Ministry of Health and Population in all its sectors, and he expressed his thanks to all partners.

 

The Minister of Health and Population also listened to a group of students and parents, To indicate the extent of their satisfaction with the level of medical services provided, stressing that the goal of this initiative is to provide a good educational and health environment for students, ensuring that students focus on their studies and achieve the best results.

During the visit, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed that The importance of early detection of vision problems in students, noting that eye health plays a major role in the learning process for students.

 

For his part, Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Education, stressed Technically, the initiative reflects The government is committed to achieving a healthy and safe educational environment for all students, noting that early screening for visual problems helps identify students’ needs more quickly, which contributes to providing them with the necessary support. 

The Minister of Education added that the Ministry is working on Spreading health awareness, to enhance understanding of the importance of health care in the lives of students, stressing the concerted efforts between various stakeholders to ensure that these services reach all schools, stressing that cooperation between the Ministries of Health and Education is an important step towards achieving comprehensive development and empowering students to achieve the best results in their lives.

 

The Minister of Education also appreciated the role of the Ministry of Health in this initiative, thanking all the medical and educational teams that contribute to the success of this initiative and providing distinguished service to students.

 

During the visit, Minister Muhammad Abdel Latif, Director of the Directorate of Education in Gharbia Governorate, directed the importance of direct communication with students and opening channels of communication with parents to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy vision in their children, and creating a follow-up card. The student has all the treatment data and the dates for repeating them if necessary, and all procedures are facilitated, which ensures that the students focus on their studies and achieve the best academic results.

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry, explained Health and Population, said that the initiative had targeted, in its first phase, the initial examination of 200,000 students in 270 schools, at the level of 6 health departments, and the results of that phase resulted in the signing of The actual examination of more than 194 thousand students, at a rate of 97.4%, in addition to the medical examination of 10,044 in central schools, and the provision of free medical services to 959 students, 2,411 medical glasses, and 92 surgical and medical interventions. 

 

"Abdul Ghaffar" added The second phase aimed to examine 225,000 students, at the level of 4 health departments, with a total of 354 schools. The actual examination was carried out at a rate of 84.8%, in addition to 13,423 medical examinations in central schools. The results of the second phase, up to the first of January, resulted in the provision of 1,240 medical services and treatment. Free, 1,818 glasses, and 61 surgical interventions And medically.

 

It is worth noting that the “Our Children’s Eyes, Our Future” initiative It aims to combat and treat early diseases of weakness and loss of vision. The initiative aims to conduct medical examinations for primary school students nationwide, treat discovered cases for free, and perform free surgical interventions for students expected to be infected. It is implemented through the Ministry of Health and Population and the Ministry of Education. It is also part of the activities of the presidential initiative “100 Million Health” and the International Lions Foundation, to detect eye diseases for primary school students.
