Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have deteriorated significantly in recent weeks, leading to a series of armed clashes in the border areas.

On December 24, the Pakistani Air Force launched air strikes on the eastern provinces of Afghanistan, specifically the province of Paktika As a result of these attacks, according to Reuters, at least 46 people were killed, most of them women and children.

In response to these actions, the Afghan Taliban movement transferred about 15 thousand soldiers and military equipment, including tanks and tankers. Armored soldiers, to the border with Pakistan. 

On December 28, Afghan forces attacked several Pakistani positions in the disputed territories, which led to the destruction of a number of Pakistani military facilities.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense said that the strikes came in response to Pakistani air strikes, stressing that the attacks targeted “centers and hideouts of hostile forces and their supporters.” Outside the Afghan borders.

Pakistan, in turn, accuses the Afghan authorities of providing shelter for militants who carry out attacks on Pakistani territory.
