Health: 1,323 supervisory visits to 73 hospitals to ensure the implementation of the antimicrobial resistance program

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the implementation of 1,323 supervisory visits to Ministry of Health and Population hospitals and affiliated bodies during the year 2024, in order to monitor compliance with infection control and antimicrobial resistance procedures in health facilities  And take the necessary corrective measures to ensure the provision of safe medical services to the Egyptian citizen.

 

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that 115 training courses had been implemented for medical staff, on anti-coronavirus procedures. Infection, surveillance of acquired infections, and combating antimicrobial resistance, with a total number of 5,758 trainees, including mandatory training for health care providers before starting work and providing medical services in 12 hospitals that have been completed. Developing it in the governorates of (Dakahlia / Gharbia / Sohag / Kafr El-Sheikh / Giza / Menoufia / Qalyubia), within the framework of building and developing capabilities and qualifying medical human cadres in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Population and affiliated bodies.

Abdul Ghaffar added: The Graduation of Batch No. 19 “Accredited Professional Diploma in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology” With a total of (32) graduates, with the aim of raising the efficiency of the medical team and qualifying cadres specialized in the science of infection control from workers in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population and various governmental bodies as well as university and private hospitals, in addition to printing and distributing 55,506 information boards for awareness within health facilities.

< p>Abdul Ghaffar indicated that 193 intensive care departments for newborns had been included in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Population, affiliated bodies and centers. And private hospitals, in the governorates of the first phase of the “Reaya” initiative.  For newborn babies, which includes the governorates of (Kafr El-Sheikh, Gharbia, Fayoum, Red Sea, Matrouh, Minya), with the aim of improving infection control procedures and reducing infection and death rates associated with neonatal intensive care departments nationwide.

< p>For his part, Dr. Radhi Hammad, Head of the Preventive Medicine Sector, said that the national electronic program system has been updated; To monitor hospital infections, as the application of the program, in its updated version, in accordance with the latest international guidelines, aims to reduce infection rates and prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant microbes within health facilities, as infection data is collected via smart phone devices equipped with the program, which are linked to the website to monitor facility infections. The Health Department of the Ministry of Health and Population, with the aim of analyzing data and taking the necessary corrective measures to prevent it from occurring in the future and protecting the patient from the risk of exposure to infection.

Dr. Sally Mohieddin, Director of the General Department of Control, explained Al-Adawi said that an integrated program was implemented to combat antimicrobial resistance in 73 model hospitals in all governorates of the Republic, including hospitals and government agencies, which include (Health Affairs Directorates – General Authority for Health Insurance – General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes – Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers – Therapeutic Institution – General Authority For health care), as well as private hospitals, in addition to the Suez Canal Authority hospitals in Port Said and Ismailia governorates, the program includes strengthening infection prevention and control practices, laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of resistant microbes.
