She stated that schools in 16 countries were subject to closure in September due to climate events, affecting 16 million children in the East Asia and Pacific region.
She called on world leaders and the private sector to invest in educational facilities capable of withstanding disasters and to enhance the capabilities of educational systems to confront climate change.
