المملكة: “The District” commemorates the meeting of King Abdulaziz and US President Roosevelt

The King Abdulaziz House, in cooperation with the American embassy in Riyadh, is organizing a special exhibition on the occasion of the eighties of the historic meeting that brought together King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud – may God have mercy on him – and American President Franklin de Roosevelt, which was held on the fourteenth of February 1945 on board the warship American USS Quinsi in the bitter lakes of the Suez Canal.
The meeting is a pivotal step in the history of Saudi -American relations, as it was established for a strategic partnership between the two countries that lasted for a century, and included multiple fields, including politics, economics, culture and technology.

Rare documents

The exhibition will open its doors today at the Al -Hajar building within the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Riyadh, and will continue until the seventeenth of February 2025 AD, where it will display a set of rare documents and archive photos, which document the details of the meeting, which was not just a transient diplomatic meeting, but rather a basic turning point and a beginning of diplomatic relations Between the two countries, it resulted in the establishment of embassies, the exchange of diplomatic representation, and the establishment of a bilateral relationship based on common interests and mutual understanding, which made it one of the main factors in the stability of the region and the world.
