Update technical specifications for school buses in Abu Dhabi

The Integrated Transport Center revealed that, as part of its efforts to enhance the infrastructure supporting school transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, he conducted studies and prepared development designs for more than 60 schools, which included defining the challenges related to transportation and traffic safety through direct communication with school departments and implementing field visits and surveys.
He stated that these efforts resulted in the development of solutions for each school, which included increasing the number of situations designated for buses and private vehicles, and improving the flow of traffic in the vicinity of schools, which contributes to raising the level of traffic safety.
He also mentioned that he intends to publish field inspection teams in a number of school sites that are witnessing traffic congestion from the beginning of the school year to facilitate traffic around schools, as well as updating the technical specifications of buses and adding new advantages for security and safety, including installing an additional “Stock” mark for new buses that accommodate more than 40 passengers.
The Integrated Transport Center, affiliated with the Municipalities and Transport Department, announced the completion of its preparations to receive the new academic year, as part of its continuous efforts to provide a safe transportation environment for school students.
Where the center’s plan aims to ensure a safe daily trip for students to and from schools, in addition to securing smooth traffic traffic in the areas surrounding schools for all road users, whether pedestrians or school bus users, public transportation or private vehicles.
The plan is based on two main axes, namely educating students about traffic safety rules, improving the infrastructure of roads and facilities surrounding schools, as the center focuses on implementing these measures to ensure the highest standards of safety and flexibility in the movement of movement at the beginning of the school year.
The plan comes in cooperation with strategic partners and school departments in addition to the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, and these measures start from the role of the integrated transportation center in enhancing traffic safety efforts to reach a safe transport system and achieving the wise leadership vision in promoting the quality of life and making Abu Dhabi a safe and safe society, especially students.
In terms of awareness, the center has completed several awareness campaigns during the past academic year, which included many schools in Abu Dhabi. As these campaigns focused on educating students about the traffic safety rules when using the school bus and crossing roads in the vicinity of the school, where more than 900 students participated, and the center is preparing to resume these campaigns with the start of the new academic year 2025-2026 to include a greater number of schools. These campaigns are designed to suit different age levels, using educational educational techniques and attractive interactive platforms, with the aim of communicating the information in an interesting scientific manner that establishes awareness of traffic safety among students.
The center emphasized that it takes a series of measures to enhance safety in the school transport sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which included the implementation of periodic inspection rounds to ensure the readiness of school buses, and to organize training workshops to educate operators, drivers, supervisors and movement coordinators and ensure commitment to security and safety standards.
He pointed out that he continues to develop and follow up on the smart “Salama” application, which is part of a unified and integrated system for school transportation management. His efforts include organizing training workshops for the movement’s coordinators in schools, operators and supervisors in the city of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain City and Al Dhafra, as well as training programs directed to drivers and supervisors to raise their awareness of their responsibilities in adhering to security and safety measures, in order to enhance the efficiency of employment and raise safety standards in school transport.
