The UAE allocates a $ 64.5 million financial grant to Al -Maqasid Hospital in East Jerusalem

In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, the UAE allocated a financial grant of $ 64.5 million to the Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem, in support of operational operations, medical staff and the modernization of facilities.

His Highness Sheikh Dhiab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Presidency Bureau for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, Chairman of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council, affirmed the UAE’s commitment to support Palestinian brothers in various societal sectors, in light of the great attention and unlimited support from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, as the state continues to support the health sector in all Palestinian lands in coordination with the international organizations concerned World.

His Highness explained that the UAE continues to enable workers in the health sector in doctors and administrators, in order to support the capabilities of Palestinian health institutions and meet the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people.

Continue providing basic health care

For his part, Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al -Amri, President of the Emirates Agency for International Aid, said that the UAE is working with various international organizations and relevant regional institutions to enhance multiple health services in East Jerusalem, Gaza and other priority areas in the current stage, and therefore the Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem is considered an important health facilities, as it is specialized in conducting heart operations and specialized clinics for children and bones, implementing medical research and providing comprehensive health care.

For his part, Dr. Tedros Adhanum Guerbrisus, Director General of the World Health Organization, expressed the gratitude of the organization for the UAE for supporting Al -Makassed Hospital and enabling it to continue providing basic health care, which will allow the organization to provide the hospital with the necessary medicines and important medical supplies, in addition to expanding the scope of medical imaging capabilities, improving the birth and gynecology department, and helping to train more than 100 people in 11 medical specialties.

For his part, Dr. Omar Abu Zaida, Director General of Al -Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem, expressed his deep thanks and great gratitude to the UAE to support the medical and administrative elements in the hospital, in continuation of the continuous Emirati efforts to enable the health sector in all Palestinian areas, and support the workers and enable them to perform their job duties in a sustainable manner.

He said: “The Emirati support for us as Palestinians means a lot to us, as the UAE has been establishing since its establishment at the hands of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” may God rest his soul “, with permanent standing and providing support and assistance in everything that our Palestinian people aspire to, and in particular the city of Jerusalem, and we are proud of the UAE’s steadfast and historical position with its pioneering global endeavor and work with all parties to support Jerusalem institutions, improve health services All patients and auditors, especially women and children.

It should be noted that the Makassed Hospital in East Jerusalem was officially opened in 1968 with a capacity of 20 beds, until today it reached more than 250 beds, and about 950 employees from the medical and administrative elements work, and the hospital has a specialized residency program for doctors, which contains 13 medical specialties approved by the Palestinian Medical Council and the Jordanian Medical Council, and more than 540 specialized medical medicines graduated from this program The hospital serves more than 66,000 people from Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
