The Food and Drug Authority has launched a new guidance guide for the procedures for withdrawing products from the markets, including pharmaceutical, herbal and health preparations.

Dealing with everything that threatens health

This guide aims, according to the authority, to clarify the procedures followed and determine the responsibilities of all parties involved in the withdrawal process, in order to ensure that they are implemented effectively and high efficiency to protect consumer health.
The authority emphasized within the new evidence of the mechanism for dealing with cases that may pose a great health threat, especially during holidays.
She explained that in the event of such a risk during weekends or official holidays, applicants, such as the relevant companies, are allowed to take urgent proactive measures within 24 hours, such as reserving or isolated inventory, even before the official initiation of the declared withdrawal process, with the aim of rapidly reducing the potential risks to consumers.

The importance of immediate response

The evidence stressed the importance of immediate response when dealing with the defects classified within the first category “Class I”, which is the most dangerous.
In these cases, the evidence is obligated to directly and immediately communicate over the phone with the setting point specified in the authority, to ensure urgent dealing with the notice.
This phone call comes in addition to the official notification to be sent via e -mail and the website of the Saudi “Saudi Vigilance”, which ensures an emergency and integrated response to critical cases related to the quality of the products.
