Ukrainian forces announce the continuation of their operations in Russian Corsak

Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski confirmed today, Sunday, that his forces are continuing their operations in the Russian Kursk region.
This comes in contradiction with the Moscow announcement on Saturday of the liberation of this border area completely.

Russian courses battles

“Our forces continue their active defensive operations in the areas specified in the Kursk and Bilgorod regions” in Russia, “Zellinski said on social media.
Ukrainian military officials also denied “false” statements to the General Staff of the Russian Army on Saturday, and condemned the Russian “propaganda” on this issue.
Since Saturday, several Russian channels have reported on the Telegram application, which specializes in following up the battles, that the clashes between the Russians and the Ukrainians continued in the Kursk region.

Kursk battles

The Chief of Staff of the Russian Army, Valerie Gerasimov, confirmed to President Vladimir Putin that this Russian region adjacent to Ukraine was completely liberated from the Ukrainian forces.
Kiev entered the area in August 2024, and initially occupied several hundred square kilometers, before only a small pocket remained under its control.
Putin stressed earlier that he is not ready to negotiate the settlement of the conflict that broke out his spark due to his forces’ attack on Ukraine in 2022, until the Ukrainian forces were fully defeated from the area.

Ukrainian forces retreated

For several weeks, the Ukrainian forces have been declining in this region from the front, and the Russian army gradually restored the lands.
Ukrainian leaders justified this sudden attack on Russian territory with a desire to obtain a pressure card for use in any possible peace talks.
Volodimir Zellinski recently suggested to Russia as a “exchange” of lands, which Moscow immediately rejected while its army continues to advance.
