المملكة: A new world era .. The Riyadh meeting places a road map for artificial intelligence

The global research and innovation leaders participating in the thirteenth annual meeting of the World Research Council announced the innovative principles of employing artificial intelligence in the Department of Scientific Research and promoting joint creative work; In order to face challenges at the national and global levels.
The closing statement of the council at the end of their meeting, which was hosted by the capital, Riyadh from 18-22 May, established a new world era based on the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence, in a way that contributes to reshaping the future of scientific research and cognitive production, as well as the pillars of enhancing joint international cooperation and integration to achieve sustainable development goals.

Artificial intelligence systems

The statement stressed the importance of supporting transparency as it is an essential pillar of the application of artificial intelligence systems in the Department of Scientific Research, revealing the mechanisms of the work of these systems, their uses, and the way to store and process user data, calling for all decisions supported by artificial intelligence subject to human control and logical interpretation.
The statement called for strengthening cooperation between countries and research institutions to exchange experiences and support areas with limited capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, and to design diversity systems, in order to ensure fair and comprehensive decisions that serve researchers and scientific societies.

Research support

Members of the World Research Council recommended the need to enhance fair access to artificial intelligence technologies, especially in areas with limited resources, stressing the importance of supporting research to develop models that consume less resources; To bridge the digital gap and achieve sustainable development.
Participants called for the adoption of research financing agencies to promote free and open source artificial intelligence models, and provide them with other research financing agencies, and support research that focuses on building artificial intelligence models that require less mathy power, while maintaining the confidence of the public by publishing and clarifying how to train these systems, and ways to store and process user data and research proposals.

Privacy and safety standards

The statement urged the publication of training data for artificial intelligence systems while adhering to the standards of privacy and safety, and to conduct the continuous evaluation of the systems used in research management and publish their results to increase awareness of their limits, and also called for the establishment of a team specialized in artificial intelligence with a high level of maturity in adopting these technologies.
In the field of enhancing joint creative cooperation, the statement recommended the importance of achieving the principles of totalitarianism and justice in a way that ensures the equal access of resources and opportunities for all societies, and the effective participation of stakeholders in all stages of implementing joint research work from planning and implementation, to the stage Technology and social, and the involvement of the public in collecting and analyzing data, which enhances transparency and societal credibility of research.

Promote transparency

The statement also recommended the benefit of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things to enhance transparency and improve the management of joint projects, taking into account the financing of these projects for environmental, social and economic dimensions, and setting indicators to measure the sustainable impact for them, in addition to the importance of developing clear organizational structures that guarantee transparency.
The closing statement includes the invitation of research financing institutions to adopt a set of strategies that guarantee the implementation of the principles of joint creative work, and includes the establishment of a multi -language digital environment that supports international cooperation, flexible financing, developing legislative frameworks that support participatory innovation, enhance global cooperation through joint financing programs and knowledge exchange, adopt quantitative and quality tools to measure the effectiveness and sustainability of joint initiatives and projects.
The thirteenth annual meeting of the World Research Council, which was hosted by the Kingdom as a world event first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, was with wide participation of more than 200 participants from 66 countries around the world, including 54 heads of research organizations, as well as leaders and experts from scientific research and innovation financing institutions.
