The start of the Fujairah World Chess Championship in its first version"Monday" Under the patronage of Muhammad Al Sharqi
Fujairah on August 23/ WAM/ The first edition of the Fujairah International Chess Championship will be launched and will continue until September 2 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
This came during the press conference held at the Fujairah Chess and Culture Muqrinans in the presence of Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barak, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Chairman of the Club Board of Directors and Ivan Seroni, Chairman of the Referees Committee in the International Chess Federation, along with members of the club’s board of directors.
Dr. Abdullah Al Berkat thanked His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah for his patronage of the championship, which would contribute to its output according to the highest levels of organization and excellence .. He described the championship as it will be one of the strongest world championships based on the average rankings of the participating players, indicating that hosting this tournament reflects the prestigious position of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club on the international scene.
He said that the establishment of the championship in the new club complex with the participation of a group of world champions classified alongside a group of distinguished Emirates players comes in support of the club’s efforts in cooperation with the Emirates Chess Federation to enhance the position of UAE chess globally.
He revealed the hosting of Fujairah, as part of the accompanying activities, the meeting of the International Check Federation Committee, in addition to the fair play course.
For his part, Ivan Seroni announced that the tournament will witness the participation of 600 players from 75 countries, distributed in three main categories, which is the super star category for players classified with a classification of 2560 and above, which includes 44 players in the Al -Fida rounds, the world’s most powerful ranked and the professors (Master) for those classified above 2200 with the participation of about 330 players; In addition to the open championship for players under the classification of 2200, which will witness a prominent participation of a number of Emirati players, including Ammar Al -Sidrani, Kindergarten, Amran Al -Hosani, and Abdul Rahman Al -Taher.
