tomorrow.."National Center for Human Rights" Organizes a conference on the role of media in raising awareness

The National Council for Human Rights will organize tomorrow, Monday, a conference entitled “Media and Human Rights… Approaches to the Role of the Media in Raising Awareness, Protection, and Monitoring Their Implementation.”

This conference comes within the framework of the Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance dialogue on issues Human rights, and highlighting the pivotal role of the media in spreading the culture of human rights. The head of the Information Service, the heads of the national media councils and bodies, the Syndicate of Journalists and Media Professionals, and an elite group of media experts participate in the conference. Decision makers, representatives of civil society organizations, as well as a group of academics specialized in human rights and media. 

The conference discusses three main axes: strengthening the role of the National Council for Human Rights through responsible media solutions, the challenges facing the media, and shared responsibility. Between the Council, the media and the protection of human rights in the age of digital media.

It seeks to shed light on the challenges facing the media in protecting human rights, and the role of the media and the Council in promoting human rights conditions, in addition to providing practical recommendations to improve the performance of the media and enhance Partnerships between media institutions and human rights organizations.  The first session includes an in-depth discussion on the importance of strengthening the role of the National Council for Human Rights and the media in supporting the human rights situation in the country, while the second session focuses on the common challenges between the Council and the media and ways to confront them, and the third session discusses the protection of digital rights in light of the digital media transformation.

The conference also aims to come up with practical recommendations that contribute to developing cooperation between the media and the National Council for Human Rights, and strengthening the role of the media as a defender of human rights, with a focus on confronting hate speech and misinformation that has become a threat to societies in the digital age.
