Harnessing data to enhance the UAE’s competitiveness in its development journey

The UAE government launched the “Emirates Unified Numbers” project, which represents one of the national projects aimed at developing and strengthening the national statistical system, and supporting the country’s progress in various economic, demographic, social, environmental and other fields.

This came during an event attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Office, and heads and officials of statistical centers in the country.

The national project, in which all local governments in the country participate, through their statistical centers, aims to achieve the UAE’s vision of being a global leader in the field of employing data and statistics, and supporting the decision-making process, while the project is based on three main axes: enabling the proactive economy. The human and society axis, and the sustainable environment and renewable energies axis.

On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that “the (Unified Emirates Numbers) project comes within the framework of the UAE government’s keenness to adopt the best technologies and advanced solutions in the field of employing data and statistics, and to support the decision-making process in cooperation between the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics in the government.” Federal, statistical centers, local executive councils in the emirates of the country, and partners from the private sector.”

His Highness said: “The achievements achieved in the field of statistics and data in the UAE represent an essential foundation for the continuity of development efforts and work within one national team.”

During his meeting with the heads and officials of statistical centers in the country, His Highness also praised the efforts made by the federal and local authorities, represented by the National Statistics Committee headed by the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, and representatives of the ministries and relevant government agencies, and its work with all statistical centers in the country within one team, stressing that His Highness The importance of harnessing data that enables the UAE government to make decisions and policies supported by comprehensive and accurate official statistics, to enhance the country’s competitiveness in its development journey in vital priority sectors.

The project aims to unify the “calendar” of national statistical publication and accurately govern the processes of producing indicators at the state level, and to enhance competitiveness and bilateral cooperation between the UAE and countries of the world, by providing comprehensive and accurate files that focus on countries’ performance in reports of global competitiveness and global economic strength, such as the gross domestic product. Total, inflation, foreign investment, infrastructure, environment, tourism, etc., to support the development of economic policies and analyze trends to enhance growth and economic stability in the country, in addition to the total shift towards joint digital surveys, enhancing digital and data integration efforts, and building accurate records based on data collection and analysis in a comprehensive manner.
