The Standing Committee on Human Rights welcomes the statement of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls

Abu Dhabi, December 20 / WAM / The Permanent Committee for Human Rights welcomed the statement of Her Excellency Reem Al Salem, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, during her visit to the country, stressing that this statement reflects the tireless efforts made by the United Arab Emirates to achieve gender balance and equality, which It is considered a national priority.
The committee indicated that these results and achievements reflect the directives of the wise leadership, which believes that development and success are based on investing in people, and that empowering women is empowering society and a necessity for progress and development to build a more prosperous future for all.
In this regard, the Committee emphasized the qualitative achievements made by the UAE in the field of women’s empowerment, which strengthened its international standing, as it topped the region and ranked seventh globally in the Gender Equality Index for the year 2024, noting that these results reflect the country’s commitment to promoting the rights of women and girls. And by providing a supportive environment for their contribution at various levels.
The committee explained that the UAE is home to more than 200 nationalities who live on its soil and enjoy a decent life and mutual respect, under laws that guarantee equality and justice for all, which contributes to achieving a comprehensive environment that supports the rights of all.
The Permanent Committee for Human Rights affirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening efforts and cooperation with international organizations to achieve further progress in the field of human rights.
