Drydocks World launches a major expansion of the southern plaza

Dubai, December 23 / WAM / Drydocks World officially opened the “South Arena” expansion, a modern facility with an area of ​​75,000 square meters, at a cost of millions of dollars, designed to enhance manufacturing capabilities and enhance the company’s leadership in the field of engineering and construction projects. This expansion contributes to increasing manufacturing capacity by 40% and raising the capacity of the southern plaza by 25%, enabling Drydocks International to handle several huge projects simultaneously.
The new southern yard features the largest loading and unloading dock in the Middle East and Africa, and is equipped to handle structures weighing up to 37,000 tons.
This advanced infrastructure enables Drydocks International to meet the growing demand for energy transformation projects and provide innovative marine solutions around the world.

The southern yard is equipped with advanced technologies, including robotic cutting machines, computer numerical control systems, and heavy rolling machines, which improves manufacturing accuracy and efficiency.
This facility accommodates approximately 3,000 workers per day, and is designed to complete complex industrial projects that include: Conversion of floating production storage and offloading vessels, construction of offshore platform decks, and construction of high voltage AC or DC conversion platforms for offshore wind energy markets.
A 5,000-ton floating crane is also expected to be in service by 2026, enhancing the South Yard’s ability to handle large and complex projects.
Dr. Captain Rado Antolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, said that the expansion of the southern yard represents a qualitative shift for the company, as it enhances its ability to implement several complex global projects at the same time, with a focus on smarter logistics services, in addition to effective implementation, and taking into account standards. High levels of health, safety, security and environment, so that the facility will be a basis for the transformation in the field of energy and to meet the accelerating and changing requirements of the market.
He added that the “Southern Square” relies entirely on clean energy derived from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Park, which contributes to greatly reducing the facility’s carbon footprint, in addition to full compliance with global environmental standards.
The facility is designed to support green energy infrastructure, while integrating sustainable practices into all its operations, reflecting a comprehensive vision and integrated approach that enhances responsibility towards the environment.
Antolovich explained that the expansion goes beyond just an increase in capacity, as it confirms the company’s commitment to innovation, operational excellence and transformation in the field of energy.
