The number of colleges of computers, information, and artificial intelligence has increased to 92 colleges and institutes

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, indicated that the interest in artificial intelligence was reflected in the increase in the number of faculties of these specializations in Egyptian universities, as the number of faculties of computers, information and artificial intelligence in Egypt increased significantly to reach To 92 colleges and institutes distributed in the seven geographical regions as follows: “27 colleges of computers, information, and artificial intelligence in 27 public universities, 20 colleges of computers, information, and artificial intelligence in 32 private universities, 20 colleges of computers, information, and artificial intelligence in 20 private universities, and 15 institutes.” For computers and information in private higher institutes, and 10 colleges of computers and artificial intelligence in universities established by international agreements and university branches. Dr. Ayman Ashour confirmed that the higher education sector in Egypt has witnessed a remarkable growth in the number of students enrolled in the specializations of computers, information, and artificial intelligence, with the diversity of options available to students where they can enroll in public universities. Or private or private, or universities established by international agreements, or branches of foreign universities, or private institutes.

The Minister stressed that increasing the number of colleges of computers, information, and artificial intelligence in Egypt is an important step that contributes to achieving Sustainable development goals in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which aims to transform Egypt into a regional center for innovation and technology. This increase also contributes to meeting the growing labor market needs of graduates of these specializations, who have high skills and experience, qualifying them to contribute in various fields, such as: (development Software, data analysis, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, information networks, robot software, cloud computing, etc.), indicating that this increase constitutes a strong motivation to move forward in developing these fields and strengthening their position. For his part, Dr. Sherif Kishk, Assistant Minister for Smart Governance, indicated that the colleges of computers, information, and artificial intelligence in Egypt have witnessed a large demand from students, pointing to the increase in the number of students enrolled in the colleges of computers and information this year. year, by 39% over last year, as the number of students enrolled in these colleges reached 112,000 male and female students, which indicates that these majors have become among the most attractive majors for students at the present time, as these studies indicate. The numbers indicate an unprecedented jump in the number of students enrolled in these colleges.

The Assistant Minister for Smart Governance indicated that 4 protocols, agreements and memorandums of understanding had been signed with a number of international companies specialized in the field of technology and artificial intelligence; With the aim of integrating school curricula with the needs of the labor market; To provide students with knowledge, skills and experience and qualify them to be able to compete in the local, regional and international labor market.

Dr. Sherif Kishk added that as part of the efforts made by the state to reduce technological risks, the Ministry has launched an initiative entitled “Higher Education “digitally secure”; It aims to train and qualify 1,000 employees working in the office of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its affiliated institutions, within 6 months. With the aim of introducing the risks of cyber threats and their impact on data security.

A cooperation agreement was also signed between New Mansoura University and the French University of Evansti, with the aim of enhancing cooperation between the two sides. The agreement also included completing the discussion regarding establishing an observatory for responsible practices of artificial intelligence in Egypt. Which contributes to the development of this field in a sustainable manner.

The Ministry has implemented training programs for workers in the information technology sector in higher education institutions to enhance the capabilities of workers and develop their skills, and to support the process of modernization and digital development in Egyptian universities and institutes in vital fields. In line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, including training courses in “Big Data”, artificial intelligence “AI”, cloud computing, “Datacom” data centers, “Security”, and access networks.
