Tomorrow, Sunday, the sequential operation plan for the Riyadh train tracks will be completed by operating the orange track, “Madinah Road Corridor,” with a length of “40.7” kilometers, as the third and final phase of the train network operation plan, which aims to ensure smooth operation that achieves comfort for users.
The orange route extends east and west along Medina Road and Prince Saad bin Abdul Rahman I Road, and begins in the west near the Jeddah Expressway and ends in the east near the National Guard camp in Khashm Al-Aan.
The track rises mostly along the western part of Medina Road, then underground in a tunnel in the middle section of the track, generally on a slope along Prince Saad bin Abdul Rahman Road. This route includes 22 stations, including 20 substations and two interchange stations.

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024 AD, the shrine of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, inaugurated the Riyadh train project “Riyadh Metro”, which cost $22.5 billion.
The first phase was launched on December 1, 2024 AD, with the operation of the blue track: Olaya Street – Al Batha – Al Hayer axis, with a length of 38 km, and the yellow track: King Khalid International Airport Road, with a length of 29.5 km. The purple track: axis of Abdul Hamman Bin Awf Road – Road Sheikh Hassan bin Hussein, 29.7 km long.
While the second phase of the sequential operation plan for the Riyadh train track network was launched on December 15, the operation of the red track, “King Abdullah Road Corridor,” and the green track, “King Abdulaziz Road Corridor,” is located. The red track, which connects the eastern neighborhoods of Riyadh to the western neighborhoods, is located at a distance of 25 km. ,3 km. The green path covers a distance of 12.9 km, extending from north to south of the capital.

The network of routes covers most densely populated areas, government facilities, commercial, educational and health activities, and connects King Khalid International Airport, King Abdullah Financial Center, major universities, the city center and the public transportation centre.

The Riyadh Electric Train is known as; Called the Riyadh Metro, it is a major part of the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in the city of Riyadh, which consists of trains and buses. The metro consists of “6” main lines linking various neighborhoods of the city over a span of 176 kilometers, at an estimated speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
It includes 85 stations, including 8 main stations where a number of the network’s routes meet, distributed between 34 overhead stations and 47 underground stations, constituting a qualitative shift in the public transportation system in the capital. The project also includes 190 trains containing 452 cars, and includes 19 public parking sites on various tracks of the train network in most parts of the city, with different capacities ranging between 400 and 600 cars.

The train stations include amenities, safety, air conditioning, and trip information systems, and some of them include shops, commercial services, and parking lots.
According to the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh, the Riyadh Train was designed according to high technical specifications, the most prominent of which is the use of the “driverless” automated train system, where the trains are controlled through the control and operation center of the public transportation system in the city of Riyadh, in addition to the center’s management of passenger service operations, Security and safety monitoring.
The project contributes to raising the quality of life in the city by encouraging residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle, by providing a suitable environment for walking and access to public transport stations, in a developed urban environment, surrounded by attractive commercial, cultural and tourist activities.
