The newspaper "E Kathimerini" The Greek newspaper, in its report today, Thursday, shed light on the agreement between Greece, Egypt and Cyprus from a political standpoint.

 

The newspaper explained, in its English version, that the leaders of Greece, Egypt and Cyprus agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership and coordination on pressing issues during a tripartite summit held yesterday, Wednesday, in Cairo to address the rapidly changing dynamics in the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East region.

The newspaper highlighted that cooperation in the field of energy was at the forefront of the meeting’s agenda, as Athens and Cairo adopted the electrical interconnection project between Greece and Egypt (GREGY), which is a major project to transfer clean energy from Africa to Europe.

 

In turn,  Greek Prime Minister "Mitsotakis" Highlighting the importance of the project, along with emerging opportunities in the field of carbon capture and storage, which is crucial to achieving Europe’s decarbonization goals, according to what the newspaper reported.

 

The newspaper continued that the talks stressed the mutual benefits of close cooperation in sustainable energy technologies, noting that the tripartite alliance seeks to obtain stronger support from the European Union for Egypt.

 

Mitsotakis and Christodoulides highlighted their countries’ role in securing EU support for Egypt’s stability, which has now been formalized through a new strategic partnership agreement.

 

With regard to the field of economic cooperation, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the ports of Piraeus and Alexandria/Port Said to enhance trade and interconnection.

 

The newspaper saw that the "Immigration Department" It was a pivotal point, with bilateral efforts being made to simplify legal pathways and address irregular migration, adding that although Greece and Egypt agreed to employ 5,000 Egyptian agricultural workers, implementation challenges remain.
