المملكة: Watch.. The King Salman Reserve Development Authority implements an initiative to raise environmental awareness
It also included a review of its achievements in the areas of protecting endangered species, developing vegetation, and enhancing environmental sustainability.
Initiatives of the King Salman Reserve Development Authority
The Authority set up an awareness and educational pavilion on the sidelines of the Al-Orouba and Al-Hilal match within the Saudi Professional League “Roshan League”, which was held in the Al-Jawf region.
The pavilion showcased the Authority’s achievements through screens displaying videos to introduce the reserve and the natural and archaeological treasures and wildlife it contains, in addition to distributing “agricultural seedlings” to the sports audience.
The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority announced that it had monitored nesting cases of the endangered “Rakhma” bird in natural habitats within the scope of the reserve.
Nesting of the “marshmallow” bird
The lizard belongs to the family of diurnal birds of prey, and is considered an endangered species globally. According to the reserve’s classification, it is distinguished by being a resident, breeding and transient migratory species, and a rare winter visitor in the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve.
Among the types of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority embraces more than 350 species of these different wild animals.
Among the most prominent species within its range is the Arabian wolf, one of the most important predatory animals that has a role in maintaining environmental balance, enhancing biodiversity in protected areas, and stabilizing the ecosystem in the Kingdom.
Achieving a strategic achievement
Last month, the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority announced the achievement of a new strategic achievement, represented by planting more than 2.4 million seedlings and rehabilitating 700,000 hectares.
It was also able to remove 119 tons of harmful waste and scatter 4 tons of local seeds in the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve.
