Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly confirmed the follow-up of the executive position of the various components of the project to develop the site of the Great Transfiguration in the city of St. Catherine.

He said, “Work is underway to implement many tourism, development and service projects that will contribute to raising the level of services provided in this unique spot.” These projects include the development of the tourist area, the establishment of a mountain hotel, a new visitor center, an administrative complex, and the residential neighborhood in Al-Zaytouna, in addition to the establishment of a square and the Al-Salam building, the development of Wadi Al-Deir, and the development of a housing area. Bedouins.

The Prime Minister added that many works and constructions related to utility networks, expansion and duplication of roads, as well as works related to the development of St. Catherine International Airport were also carried out. This will qualify this promising region to receive more incoming tourist traffic, in order to maximize its many characteristics.

He stressed the need to pay attention to the cultural and awareness-raising role, focus on the importance of this blessed spot, and make more efforts within the framework of reviving its status. Its spiritual and religious importance, and the importance it holds among the three heavenly religions.

He added, “During the meeting, the detailed position of the implementation rates of a number of major projects that are being implemented within the framework of the Great Transfiguration Site Development Project was reviewed, including the establishment of: the Visitor Center.” The new, Peace Square, the new eco-lodge, the mountain hotel, the administrative complex, and the new residential area in Zaytouna.”

He explained that the works also included developing both the existing eco-lodge and the tourist area, Wadi Al-Deir, the Bedouin housing area, and the center of the heritage town, in addition to renewing and replacing water lines, electricity networks, axes and paths of many roads leading to the city of St. Catherine, and a project to ward off the dangers of floods in the region.

In this context, the Prime Minister directed – During the meeting – preparations began for the opening ceremony of these important projects, which will contribute to tourism promotion and attract new numbers of incoming tourists.
