His Highness stressed the UAE’s keenness to continue its efforts to advance global transformation efforts towards clean energy sources, through its innovative strategies and ambitious plans that focus on empowering youth, integrating smart solutions, and taking advantage of advanced technologies, to enhance sustainability and achieve climate action goals at all local and regional levels. His Highness also pointed out the importance of doubling coordination in the field of climate action between various concerned parties, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of efforts made to confront global climate challenges, stressing that close cooperation between governments, institutions, environmental organizations and the private sector plays a pivotal role in achieving common climate goals, especially in the areas of reducing climate change. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, delivered the opening speech at the session, which was entitled “Ensuring the Future: Water is at the Heart of the UAE’s Vision for Climate Neutrality,” in which he highlighted that the agricultural sector consumes about 70% of fresh water globally. During the session, His Excellency William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Building Africa’s Green Future: Kenya’s Journey to Climate Neutrality.”

The second session of Heads of State and Government also witnessed His Excellency Bola Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, delivering a keynote speech entitled “From Climate Requirements to Economic Prosperity: Integrating Africa into the Global Energy Future.”

His Excellency Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, also delivered a keynote speech entitled “Uganda’s Green Transition: Leading the Transformation Journey in East Africa.”

His Excellency Wavell Ramkalawan, President of the Republic of Seychelles, also delivered a keynote speech entitled “Harnessing the Blue Economy and Preserving the Marine Environment for the Transition to Sustainable Energy.”
