Amid expectations of demonstrations…what is expected at Donald Trump’s inauguration?
Donald Trump will become the forty-seventh president of the United States on Monday in Washington, which is witnessing a four-day peak of events amid expected arctic temperatures.
Trump’s inauguration ceremony
Donald Trump will take the constitutional oath on Monday afternoon in the Capitol building, the bastion of American democracy, the same place that crowds of his supporters stormed to prevent the certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory.
The Republican billionaire will then deliver his inaugural speech, and then he will organize the traditional parade in the vast arena, where there will be 7,500 participants, including military, university and even equestrian groups, before the new president arrives at the White House.
The historic day’s program ends in the evening with a series of regular dance parties. Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver three speeches.
Reception and fireworks
Before that, the celebrations will kick off on Saturday evening with a reception and fireworks at a golf club located less than an hour from Washington, specifically in Sterling, Virginia.
One of the most important points of the program is the meeting that will be organized on Sunday afternoon in the center of the federal capital, where the president-elect will also speak in front of thousands of his supporters, and the inauguration ceremony will conclude at the National Cathedral on Tuesday.
Washington has become witnessing an unprecedented security deployment, after an election campaign characterized by violence and two assassination attempts targeting Donald Trump, the first in the middle of an election rally.
Meanwhile, about 25,000 police and army personnel were mobilized, and barriers were set up along a 48-kilometre length, with snipers on roofs and drones in the sky.
Security plan during Trump’s inauguration ceremony
The Information Department, which is responsible for protecting dignitaries, spoke of a “slightly more solid security plan” than previous inauguration ceremonies, justifying this with “a more threatening atmosphere.”
The authorities also expect medium-sized demonstrations compared to the anti-Trump marches that gathered hundreds of thousands at his first inauguration in 2017.
The year 2025 is expected to be the coldest in 40 years, according to the weather website Accuweather, and between a few centimeters of snow that could accumulate Sunday and an estimated temperature of 12 below zero on Monday, the polar conditions may affect the course of the celebrations.

Participants at Trump’s inauguration
The audience will include guests from billionaires in the field of technology, including Yellow Musk, and the head of Amazon companies, Jeff Bezos, from Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, and Tim Cook from Apple, will participate.
On the political side, there are two notable absences from the inauguration ceremony: Michelle Obama and former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The ceremony will be attended by Barack Obama, who was succeeded by Donald Trump in his first term in 2017, and other guests include the far-right Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the Hungarian Viktor Orban.
Music program
Other right-wing European figures also announced their attendance, such as the Frenchmen Marion Marchal and Eric Zemmour, the British Nigel Farage, and one of the leaders of the Alternative for Germany party, Tino Shrubala.
He also announced a program of music with rhythms from the group Village People at Sunday’s meeting, which has become a staple at rallies for Donald Trump, who has taken to performing some of the dances.
Country singer Carrie Underwood and tenor Christopher Macchio will perform at the opening ceremony.
