A committee at the Federal National Committee discusses the government’s policy in enhancing fertility rates in the country

The Health and Environmental Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council, during its virtual meeting held today under the chairmanship of Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Chairman of the Committee, continued to discuss the issue of the government’s policy regarding enhancing reproductive rates in the country, in the presence of a number of experts and specialists.

The meeting was attended by committee members, Dr. Sidra Rashid Al Mansouri, committee rapporteur, Somaya Abdullah Al Suwaidi, and Naima Abdullah Al Sharhan, members of the Federal National Council.

During the meeting, the reasons for the decline in fertility rates in the country, the health challenges facing couples wishing to have children, comparison of fertility rates in the UAE with countries of the world, proposals made to raise the fertility rate, and the government’s efforts in this regard were discussed.

It was also discussed the extent to which fertility centers contribute to supporting families wishing to have children, the medical services provided in fertility centers compared to international medical experiences and practices in this field, and the adequacy of fertility centers according to the geographical distribution of the country. Initiatives to support reproductive health for citizens were also reviewed, and the extent to which they were evaluated. The impact of economic and social factors on reproductive health, and electronic connectivity between fertility centers, health authorities, and the Ministry of Health and Community Protection.

The committee discusses the issue of the government’s policy regarding enhancing reproductive rates in the country according to a number of axes, namely the role of legislation in enhancing the reproductive rate in the country, the state’s policies and strategies regarding enhancing reproductive rates, and the economic and social factors of the reproductive rate in the country.
