The International Monetary Fund is planning to unveil a new loan agreement for Egypt that will be offered to its board of directors for approval, according to what the Director of the Communication Department of the Authority, Julie Cosak, announced Thursday.
“The Fund’s Executive Council will consider a package of reforms as part of a fourth review of the program,” Kozak said in a statement to reporters in Washington.

Kozak pointed out that the planned new loan agreement will take the form of facilitation of hardness and sustainability, which is a mechanism designed for several goals, including helping countries to address climate change, pointing out that it is currently unable to confirm the size of this loan.
Last year, the international raised the value of a loan granted to Egypt from three billion dollars to eight billion dollars to help Cairo raise its economic challenges in the midst of a lack of regional stability due to the war in Gaza.

Egyptian loan program

A draft agreement was reached on a review of the current Egyptian loan program in December, which would allow additional financing at 1.2 billion dollars to the Egyptian economy.
It is noteworthy that the approval of the Executive Council is usually a formal procedure, as any differences are usually settled between the parties concerned before the vote.
