Drugs warfare … a dead shooter in the Belgian capital

The Belgian authorities announced on Saturday the killing of a person in a shooting in the capital, Brussels, in light of a wave of drug -related violence.
The Public Prosecution in Brussels said that the gunfire occurred in the evening near the Clemenceau station in Anderlecht area, killing one person. She added that the federal police had mandated the investigation of the case.

Fire incidents

A wave of shooting accidents in the same area killed another person soon.
Last week, two gunmen were fired from automatic rifles near the city of Clemenceau, which led to the escape of passers -by early in the metro tunnels.

Two other shooting incidents in the area, one of them was fatal, in the following days. Local officials attributed the rise in violence to a “war” ongoing between competing gangs.

Drug gangs

Brussels has witnessed an increase in crimes related to firearms associated with disputes between competing drug gangs. The police said last year witnessed 92 shootings in Brussels, killing nine people and wounding 48 others.
Belgium, located on the northwestern coast of Europe, has become the center of criminal gangs that evades drugs to the continent.
