The Ministry of Health revives “Day of Health Martyr”

The Ministry of Health has revived the “Day of the Martyr of Health”, which falls on the second of March of each year, in fulfillment of the sacrifices of medical cadres who made their lives during the performance of their humanitarian duty, coinciding with the anniversary of the registration of the first case of Corona virus in the Kingdom, to be a national occasion to remember the heroic efforts made by health practitioners in the face of epidemics and health challenges. It was received by the support and approval of the Arab and Gulf countries, to become an official occasion approved by the Arab Health Ministers Council and the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, in appreciation of the vital role played by workers in the health sector at the level of the Arab world.

In a statement on the occasion of this day, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Professor Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al -Jalajel said: “On the day of the martyr of health, we recall with pride and gratitude the sacrifices of our heroes in the health sector who have given their lives in order to preserve the health of society, and that their dedication and sincerity reflect the noble values ​​on which this country is based, and we confirm our commitment to support their families and complete their path in building a sustainable health system that protects everyone.”

The Ministry stressed that the revival of this day in light of the health shift in the Kingdom reflects the fundamental status of health cadres as the main pillar in building an integrated and sustainable system, and in this context, the ministry established a “health martyrs unit” to support and care for the families of health workers who lost their lives while performing their duties, confirming its commitment to assess their giving and role in protecting the health of citizens and residents.

The “Day of the Martyr of Health” embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to human health first, and confirms that the development of the health system depends on the dedication of heroes who confronted the dangers with a bridge, and contributed to the consolidation of a safer and sustainable future for the health sector.
