المملكة: “Abha” is the purest air in the Kingdom during 2024

The city of Abha won the title of the most pure air city for the year 2024 in an environmental achievement that enhances its tourism and economic position, according to the evaluation of the National Center for Control on NCEC Environmental Commitment.
In its evaluation, the center was based on the air quality control stations distributed throughout the Kingdom, which sends its automatically around the hour to the Central Monitoring Chamber in Jeddah, where these data are being processed and analyzed.
Hence the issuance of daily, monthly and annual reports that determine the level of air quality in the cities and regions of the Kingdom, relying on the standard reference of the USPA protection agency, and the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf GCCS.
Data in 2024 revealed that the city of Abha recorded the lowest levels of air polluting elements, which confirms that its air is the purest among the cities of the Kingdom during the past year.

Certificate of success

In a statement to the director of the branch of the National Center for Control of Environmental Commitment in the southern region, Fawaz Al -Mujtal, he stressed that Abha’s obtaining the title of the most pure air city is a success certificate for the efforts made by the center’s branch in the region, in cooperation with the governmental, private and security sectors, and the supervision and support of the Asir region and the development body.

He explained that the air quality file is one of the factors supporting the victory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by hosting the 2034 World Cup, as the Kingdom has the highest number of air quality measuring stations in the Middle East.
He pointed out that this title enhances Abha’s tourist position at the local and global levels, and makes it a favorite destination for visitors looking for the picturesque nature and the healthy environment.

Natural and heritage ingredients

Al -Mujtal added that Abha occupies a prominent position among the cities of the Kingdom, thanks to its natural and heritage ingredients and promising opportunities to invest in it, which are factors that contribute to supporting the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, especially in achieving the goals of economic diversity and quality of life.
He explained that this achievement will remain a source of pride and a strong motivation to preserve this environmental acquisition in a way that benefits the region in particular and the Kingdom in general.
It is noteworthy that air quality is one of the priorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, due to its association with human health and quality of life, so the Kingdom adopts strict policies to protect the environment and reduce pollution.
It also seeks, through her active participation in international environmental initiatives, to develop environmentally friendly infrastructure, which contributes to improving air quality and achieving sustainable development.
